"Dangal" (movie) effect, I am simply loving it..

Recently is launched the trailer and the poster of a very look-forward movie "Dangal". From the first sight of this movie’s poster, I am simply falling for it. Reasons are many and I am really desperate to discuss them. In the first look of director Nitesh Tiwari’s movie Dangal, which is going to be released on December 23, actor Amir Khan is surrounded by four girls all wearing what is popularly called a boy look. These girls are in t-shirt-lower and having a boy cut hair. If you look at the poster with the eyes of a parent, you would find it very close to your heart. Amir Khan is playing the role of a father of four girls, who turns his disadvantage (what our society says) too many daughters, not enough sons, into an advantage that makes him as famous as his wards.
The movie is impaired by the true story a man “Mahavir Singh Phogat” whose daughters Geeta and Babita Kumari and niece Veena are among the country’s leading wrestlers. This movie is celebrating the achievement of girls in a male-dominated sport, wrestling. I know, the movie is yet to release but at least trailer is making me believe this idea. And the best part about the movie poster is a punch line written on it “Mhari Choriya Choro se kam hai ke ? “ (Are my girls less worthy than boys?) The poster’s simple message is that the length of a woman’s tresses has nothing to do with her femininity or her ability.
Before the poster and trailer release, mostly the buzz about the movie was around Amir Khan and his 95 kgs body. But after poster release, everyone is eagerly waiting to see those four girls who are playing roles of wrestlers. In our country, the so-called ideal image of a woman must have long hair and beautiful face. This truism holds among many of poets, advertisers, filmmakers and even politicians. Every now and then, our grade one chauvinist pass verdicts about how a woman should dress herself and how should she behaves. But I really want this movie to clean the minds of such people who are still trapped in the world which is male-dominated.
Although, I have a son but I have very closely seen the discrimination which our society does with parents who don’t have a son. My parents have only two daughters and my mother had to face so much of hatred, every from my own family members because she could not make a boy. The poster of the movie reminds me my father who always encouraged his daughters (me and my sister) to prove themselves equally efficient and competent as boys are. This poster made me realize the acrimony that my mother faced while raising her girls like boys. Our parents sent us in good schools/colleges and people criticized them for wasting money on educating girls. They send us out of the town for pursuing our careers and people made fun of them for giving unnecessary freedom to their girls. But at the end they succeeded, their girls made them feel proud among those nasty crowd which still do injustice with girls. Today we (me and my sister) are successful and settled in our lives whereas boys of my family and in society circle around my family are still struggling.  I wish this movie would definitely bring some change in people’s mind who still think this world is made for men and women are only for serving them!

#MoreIndianThanYouThink Being an Indian Mother is Success for me

This world is a beautiful place. It’s really amazing how different countries with their unique cultures exist in harmony here. I know, there are some exceptions; however, I think that is almost negligible when I see the culmination of values and beliefs in our universe. Everyone is exclusive and different, yet all of us make this planet livable. As a mature person who got the chance to understand the ethos of a few other continents, I can proudly say that our country holds a different space in this world, a culture that is known for its strong family system and core values. Feeling proud about our mother land is no unique. But being an Indian, I have gained so much at my professional front.

Yes, I am a working mother of a 3-year-old boy. I have close to 9 years of experience in software industry and I am looking forward to work for more and more years. Being a mother and being a professional person bring two different kinds of challenges in life. And when you work for a demanding clien…

#MothersDay - A blog by Divya, ANAYA's Mother

A mother becomes a mother the day she gets to know about the little embryo inside her womb.
It all started one fine day when I did my pregnancy test and it resulted positive. Life changed from the very moment. I was excited but a bit nervous too. I and my husband were working in two different cities that time. So the excited supermom in me felt extra responsible to take care of the baby. I started spending my days managing home, office, long travel, shopping, exercise, reading and any and every thing which could be added to the list. My baby kept me motivated and never let me feel alone. At times when I felt low she kicked me as if she was saying ‘Don’t worry mom. You rock! :) However, by end of sixth month I felt exhausted and I decided to move to my mother’s place for delivery and give some time to my husband to settle down with his work life.

After seven hectic years of work life I was enjoying a peaceful time. Days were spent in all sorts of preparations to welcome the child. But…
