Dear Vivek Oberoi, you are really an inspiration

Actor Vivek Oberoi turned a year older on last Saturday (September 3).I know there is nothing special about him turning 40 this year, I also turned 31 last month. But I find his birthday celebration a topic to discuss because his gesture really impressed me. Like every year, the actor celebrated the day with a special set of people who are part of his life. These people are the kids who are fighting cancer, or who have fought the disease and survived.Vivek’s charity organization in association with Cancer Patients Aid Association organized a special event for such kids last week. The kids were so delighted to see Vivek and they enjoyed the day with big smiles on their faces. Isn't a noble way of celebrating a birthday?
Mare thinking about the lives of the kids, who are fighting with such a critical disease, bring tears to my eyes. When my son gets normal flu I get tensed and disturbed seeing his discomfort. How difficult would be the life of those kids who are seeing hospitals, medications and painful treatments at such an early age of their lives! If we can do anything to make their lives delighted, nothing can be better than that. And Vivek does a commendable job with bringing smiles on the faces of such kids. This year, the actor organized a special screening of film ‘A Flying Jatt’ since it’s a film for kids. He has also arranged for a special meal for these kids. He said that he finds immense happiness to bring in his birthday amidst these children.
Besides making his mark as an actor in Bollywood, Vivek has been equally known for his philanthropic activities. This year,he has been invited by both the Prime Minister’s office and the office of the department of disabilities to be the ambassador for the ‘Accessible India Campaign’ for persons with disabilities. And he felt honored to be part of this campaign. In July this year, while he was attending an event which was to spread the message of accessibility for the differently-abled in public transportation and technology, Vivek surprised everyone with saying "I would like to call Ira Singhal (the topper of UPSC 2014) on stage so that I can click a selfie with her. For me, she is the real hero." Ira is the first physically challenged woman to top IAS.
Vivek has also been involved in noble causes like blood donation, pledging to donate his eyes, working for underprivileged kids and has openly voiced his concern over other such causes. He is up to here in such big-hearted activities since many years. Although I feel people don’t know much about his good heart. When a female fan came to meet him and in getting his autograph she stayed till very late after evening, Vivek realized that it was too late for the girl to travel alone to the city and so he sent his personal car and driver to drop her home. When a huge fire plunged the stage at the ‘Make in India’ event organized at in Mumbai, he did his best bit to help the volunteers and the police to manage the disaster.
Films of course change fate of people in our country, however, films can never decide whether a person is a celebrity from his heart or not. We often judge people from controversies and news that is openly roaming in the air but we at times don't see the picture from a different perspective. I feel Vivek is already a superhero because of his humble gesture and kind activities. I salute to Vivek's spirit of serving people!

#MoreIndianThanYouThink Being an Indian Mother is Success for me

This world is a beautiful place. It’s really amazing how different countries with their unique cultures exist in harmony here. I know, there are some exceptions; however, I think that is almost negligible when I see the culmination of values and beliefs in our universe. Everyone is exclusive and different, yet all of us make this planet livable. As a mature person who got the chance to understand the ethos of a few other continents, I can proudly say that our country holds a different space in this world, a culture that is known for its strong family system and core values. Feeling proud about our mother land is no unique. But being an Indian, I have gained so much at my professional front.

Yes, I am a working mother of a 3-year-old boy. I have close to 9 years of experience in software industry and I am looking forward to work for more and more years. Being a mother and being a professional person bring two different kinds of challenges in life. And when you work for a demanding clien…

#MothersDay - A blog by Divya, ANAYA's Mother

A mother becomes a mother the day she gets to know about the little embryo inside her womb.
It all started one fine day when I did my pregnancy test and it resulted positive. Life changed from the very moment. I was excited but a bit nervous too. I and my husband were working in two different cities that time. So the excited supermom in me felt extra responsible to take care of the baby. I started spending my days managing home, office, long travel, shopping, exercise, reading and any and every thing which could be added to the list. My baby kept me motivated and never let me feel alone. At times when I felt low she kicked me as if she was saying ‘Don’t worry mom. You rock! :) However, by end of sixth month I felt exhausted and I decided to move to my mother’s place for delivery and give some time to my husband to settle down with his work life.

After seven hectic years of work life I was enjoying a peaceful time. Days were spent in all sorts of preparations to welcome the child. But…
